"An animal will always look for a person's intentions by looking them right in the eyes."
- H. Powers

How to Give   The Humane Society of Chittenden County is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We do not receive county, state or federal funding; we operate on private donations and grants from individuals, families, and foundations in our community. Our annual operating budget for 2006 is $553,500, and 80% of our budgeted revenue will come directly from our fundraising efforts.

There are many ways to support the Humane Society of Chittenden County. Unrestricted gifts of cash, appreciated securities, and real property enable us to operate on a daily basis. These contributions help us to serve the nearly 1,500 people and 110 animals who come through our door EACH MONTH.

You can also choose HSCC's "Don't give it another thought!" option by authorizing an automatic monthly gift from your checking or savings account.  Just think, no check writing... no stamps required... and you can spread your charitable giving to help care for the animals at HSCC throughout the year!  Click here to download the form you need to start your quick and easy giving!

We also have special funds which allow our donors to support a specific need or program of HSCC, or you can give in honor or memory of a special animal or person:

Guardian Angels / Guardian Web Angels:  Honor a special pet or person
As a Guardian Angel, you earn your wings by sponsoring a specific animal's home for a six-month or one-year period. You choose from a cat, rabbit, guinea pig cage, or a dog kennel at the HSCC adoption center. As a Guardian Web Angel, you can feature a photo and message next to an animal photo on the website about an animal that has touched your life or the life of a friend.  Your photo and message will appear on the HSCC website for one to three months, depending on the option you choose.

As a Guardian Angel, a printed poster with your name and a special message is displayed near the space you choose, and your contribution provides the food, medical care, and socialization for the animals who live there during your sponsorship. To provide an animal with the necessary care while at HSCC, it costs an average of $200. A six-month Guardian Angel sponsorship is $85.00, and a one-year sponsorship is $130.

Many donors choose to participate in this program as a way to honor a pet that was part of their family, or a special person who has shown love and compassion for animals in their lifetime.

To be a Guardian Angel or Guardian Web Angel, print, fill out and mail this form with your donation.

Scooter Fund
Scooter was a beagle mix who was found on the side of the road starving, sore-infested, and missing a paw. Scooter was treated for an ear infection and a hernia and was fitted with a customized leather artificial paw. The Humane Society then found Scooter a loving home. In honor of Scooter, this fund was established in 1994. Find out more....
