Help Us Help The Animals
The work we do is vitally important, and we couldn't do it without the help of our dedicated volunteers.
Like many non-profit organizations, volunteers do the work needed to make HSCC run. From dog walkers to board members, from those who plan events to those who clean cages-each and every one of our volunteers is part of our community. We all come together to save animals' lives.
We appreciate your time and value your participation. We hope that the time you spend volunteering for HSCC enriches your lives-- we know it enriches the animals'.
Volunteer Opportunities
Here are some of the ways you can help HSCC. If you see a job that interests
you, contact us at 862-0135 x14. Most jobs require an orientation and
training. Our Volunteer Coordinator can give you more information.
Age requirements
To volunteer at HSCC, you must be at least 10 years old. Dog Walkers under
the age of 18 and Cat or Small Animal Companions under the age of 13 MUST BE
accompanied by an adult chaperone at all times while volunteering.
Creature Comfort Specialists
Assist our staff in the basic care of the animals housed here at HSCC. The
main duties of the Creature Comfort Specialists are to maintain and clean all of
our animal areas and to make sure that the animals are well cared for and
comfortable and to help out as needed in the adoption center.
Cat and Small Animal Companions
If you're interested in providing a little TLC, this is the job for you. Animal companions provide exercise and socialization that our cats, kittens, and puppies so desperately need.
Dog Companions/Walkers
This job lets you get a little exercise yourself while providing companionship and exercise to our dogs available for adoption.
Office Volunteers
Work behind the scenes. Office volunteers are just as important as ever! If you're interested in helping our staff get the word out about HSCC, consider becoming an office volunteer.
Special Events Staff
HSCC runs fundraising events throughout the year, and none of these would be possible without the help of special event volunteers. If you like to work in a group and enjoy planning events, this is the job for you.
Do you want to help, but can't regularly come into the shelter? There are jobs that you can do from home.
Donation Canister Brigade*
Have you seen our canisters around town? We need volunteers to place canisters at local businesses and to collect the money from them monthly. The canisters increase our visibility in the community, and keep people aware of HSCC and its mission. Contact DeVida at 862-0135 x16 to help with canisters.
If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions, contact us at 862-0135
x14.
Remember: volunteering is good for the animals and good for you!
